I began my career in the service industry in 2003, and had the opportunity to follow my true passion: Mixology. Three years later in 2008, I started working alongside some of New York City’s top-rated mixologists from bars such as PDT, Little Branch, and Apotheke. During that time, I was able to hone-in careful mixing skills, learn and create new techniques, and ultimately recipes that have become modern signature drinks.
I try my best to push my creativity and talents, so much that I have been fortunate enough to quickly garner recognition from industry peers, local, and international press. In 2008, I was part of the opening team of the trendy Latin fusion eatery Yerba Buena in New York City’s East Village. Following the success of the first location, I was named head bartender and bar manager at the second Yerba Buena in the West Village, where I was tasked with creating the restaurant’s cocktail program. I was then praised to receive prestigious accolades from publications such as The New York Times, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, and many more for the work at both Yerba Buena locations.
In 2012, I began working as the head bartender at The Flatiron Room, a beautiful whisky bar with more than one thousand whiskies. Shortly thereafter, I’ve been extremely humbled to have my whisky recipes published in the book: Whiskey Distilled: A Populist Guide to the Water of Life, by Heather Greene.
I’ve had the best of times and very thankful to have been invited as guest bartender at various bars such as Bathtub Gin and Botanic Lab. Other than that, I’ve had so much fun and passion educating the public in the art of creating cocktails through my mixology classes since 2010, as well as been a mentor to several up and coming new bartenders. In 2011, I was yet again extremely humbled and fortunate to be nominated by a local news publication as one of New York’s best bartenders, and won awards at national mixology competitions over the years. Aside from always challenging myself, the most important honor for me personally is the opportunity to get to know and form lasting friendships with other fellow mixologists around the world who share the dedication to the craft.
I have a true honest passion for cocktails and it certainly guides my career and personal life. My dream to one day open my own mixology bar has been fulfilled at La Contenta and recently a second location! I also enjoy spending my leisure time cooking, dining out, and discovering new bars and restaurants. And lastly, above all else, I absolutely devote my time to my daughter, and now second baby!
